Workshop jobs. Road-load reports. Not a dynamometer.
SmartECU Desk is software for performance workshops that work from the road. Keep the job in one place, compare factory and Stage 1 logs, and print a customer report and a calibration pack.
What Desk is
Job book
Customer, vehicle, VIN, logs, ECU files, notes, and DTCs stay with the job. History search by rego, VIN, or calibration.
Overlay
Factory against Stage 1: estimated power and torque, boost, injection, rail, EGT, targets where the log has them.
Customer report
One landscape page with your logo. Peak kW / hp, pull quality, and the road-load graph.
Calibration pack
File-supplier PDF plus a zip of logs, ECU files, and the GTS+ channel list you used.
Current build: SmartECU Desk v2.8.13 for Windows. One workshop licence, one business.
What Desk is not
- Not a chassis, hub, or engine dynamometer.
- Not an OEM diagnostic application and not a flash or calibration editor.
- Not a claim to every control module, sample rate, or vehicle family.
- Enhanced channels (injection volume, rail target, VN command) come from the datalog you load. Desk does not invent them on the adapter.
Road-load method
Power at the wheels is estimated from the change in road speed against time, the mass entered on the job, rolling resistance, and a simple aerodynamic term. Torque is then inferred from that power and engine speed.
P_wheels ≈ F · v
T ≈ P / ω
| Mass | Entered on the job from the plate or a weighbridge. Guessed VIN mass is a helper only. Wrong mass moves kW almost one-for-one. |
|---|---|
| Speed and time | Taken from the datalog. Sample times slower than about 1 second are rejected for kW. A GTS+ custom list near 60–100 ms is the intended road pull. |
| Pull window | Sheets default to 1500–3500 rpm. Wide-open throttle is judged from pedal in that band, not from the rollout. |
| Tyres | Stock-size all-terrain assumed. A large change in rolling radius falsifies indicated speed and therefore kW. That is noted, not corrected. |
| What it is for | Same-vehicle, same-road, factory vs Stage 1 comparison. Not correlation to a named dyno cell. |
A chassis dynamometer measures a different system (drum or hub inertia, tyre slip, restraint, weather correction). Do not expect the numbers to match. Do not print Desk figures next to a dyno brand as if they were the same test.
Disclaimer
SmartECU Solutions provides SmartECU Desk as-is for workshop record-keeping and log comparison. You are responsible for how printed sheets are described to the vehicle owner. Mode 04 code clear is your action. Fix the fault first. The authors are not liable for lost jobs, vehicle damage, failed inspection, or commercial claims made from an estimate.
Download and licence
Licensed workshops receive SmartECU_Desk_Setup for Windows. The installer includes the runtime. Scanmatik (or another J2534 / ELM adapter) is separate if you use live data.
Setup is issued with the licence email. It is not an open public download. Contact [email protected] for a workshop licence.
